Confidentiality & Privacy Policy

The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission.

Exceptions include:

  • Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse, for which I am required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.

  • If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, I must notify the police and inform the intended victim.

  • If a client intends to harm himself or herself, I will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, I will take further measures without their permission that are provided to me by law in order to ensure their safety.

Resources for Emergencies

Sometimes clients need emergency and crisis support beyond the support I am able to provide at any given time. Because we are a private practice we are set up to accommodate individuals who are reasonably safe and resourceful. We are not available at all times and cannot provide 24-hour emergency coverage and access for our clients.

If you are having an emergency, use the following 24/7 crisis support lines or go to the emergency room or psychiatric hospital of your choosing. You can also call 911.  Before calling, please note that these services may alert local police if you endorse a plan, means, or intent to hurt yourself or someone else. If an urgent mental health issue or emergency arises, the main priority is for you to receive the urgent care you need and for you to make every effort possible to keep yourself and others alive and safe. If a life-threatening mental health emergency occurs, I recommend that you call one or more of the following:

  • Georgia Crisis and Access Line: 1.800.715.4225

  • Suicide and Crisis Lifeline: 988

  • The Trevor Project LGBTQ Suicide Hotline: Text ‘START’ to 678.678

  • or- Call: 1.866.488.7386

  • Veterans Crisis Hotline: 1.800.273.TALK (8255)

  • National Sexual Assault Hotline: 1.800.656.HOPE (4673)

  • National Domestic Violence Hotline: 800.799.SAFE (7233)

You may contact me once you have received emergency support and you are safe.
